Many people today believe that the church replaced Israel. They say that God is now using the church as a new work apart from Israel. This can't be any further from the truth. God chose Israel to be His people. God taught Israel His ways of life, holiness and blessings so that Israel could teach the nations around them, but Israel didn't do a very good job. They fell into all kinds of sin, idolatry and began to adopt the ways of the other nations but God's love still pursued them. Israel made such a mess of things that God had to make a new covenant with them.

Jeremiah 31:31-34 “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Did you notice how God is making the new covenant with Israel? He is not making a new covenant with some entity outside of Israel called, the church. It's okay to use the term, church, but we shouldn't define the church as something separate from Israel. The new covenant is with Israel. Let's confirm this in the New Testament.

Hebrews 8:7-10 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said: “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Hebrews 10:16-17 “This is the new covenant that I will make with Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

Israel will always be God's chosen people because the gifts and calling of Israel are irrevocable.

Romans 11:28-29 Many of the people of Israel are now enemies of the Good News, and this benefits you Gentiles. Yet they are still the people he loves because he chose their ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.

God has always been reaching out to Israel.

Romans 10:21 But regarding Israel, God said, "All day long I opened my arms to them, but they were disobedient and rebellious."

Even the Messiah Himself confirms His mission was to Israel to bring Israel back to Himself.

Matthew 15:22-24 And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.” But Jesus answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.” But Jesus answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

"Everything in God's salvation plan is about God using Israel to reach out to a sick and dying world"

John 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

So what about the Gentiles?

Where do we fit into God's salvation plan? We as Gentiles, who were once not part of God's salvation plan, can now become part of God's salvation plan through Christ.

Ephesians 2:11-13 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the worldBut now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

We, as Gentiles, can be grafted into Israel as a wild olive branch is grafted into a natural Olive tree. Israel is not grafted into us.

Romans 11:1-36 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah how he appealed to God against Israel: “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, as it is written:

"God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.” And David says:

"May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.” Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written:

"The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them?” For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

"God is calling all people from all walks of life to accept Him and His ways and become His people. God wants
a people to love and who will return love. This has always been the heart of God from the very beginning"

Isaiah 56:6-8 As for the Gentiles, the outsiders who join the people of the Lord and serve him and love his name, who are his servants and don’t desecrate the Sabbath, and have accepted his covenant and promises, I will bring them also to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and make them full of joy within my House of Prayer. I will accept their sacrifices and offerings, for my Temple shall be called “A House of Prayer for All People”! For the Lord God who brings back the outcasts of Israel saysI will bring others, too, besides my people Israel.

There was even a time when Peter, who was a Jew, tried to act like a Gentile to fit in and he was rebuked for it.

Galatians 2:11-15 "Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews? We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles."

Why was Peter rebuked? Because Israel was not to be grafted into the Gentiles, but rather, the Gentiles were to be grafted into Israel.

Let us all come out of Babylon and turn back to God. Let's follow His ways and celebrate His holy days and reject man's holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Good Friday, Lent, Sunday as the Lord's Day and the immortality of the soul, which all have their root in Babylon. God does not want His people following the beliefs and customs of other nations.

Deuteronomy 12:29-31 “When the Lord your God goes ahead of you and destroys the nations and you drive them out and live in their land, do not fall into the trap of following their customs and worshiping their godsDo not inquire about their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.’ You must not worship the Lord your God the way the other nations worship their gods, for they perform for their gods every detestable act that the Lord hates."

The Easter or Ishtar symbolism of the Sunday resurrection of the spring fertility cult (Easter, the Anglo-Saxon form of Ishtar), is a pagan system of worship that first penetrated Christianity in the second century. The symbolism stems from the death of Tammuz on Friday and his resurrection on Sunday. The 40 days of Lent were picked as one day for each year of his life since he died at age 40. The rest of the traditions of Easter were "Christianized" into the story of the death and resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah. "{WikiBooks & Wikipedia}

“Sunday is our mark of authority… the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact” {Catholic Record of London, Ontario Sept 1, 1923}

December 25th was observed as the birthday of the sun as part of the ancient Roman festival called Saturnalia. It was also the date of the birthday of the pagan sun-god Mithras (sometimes also spelled Mithra). {The Catholic Encyclopedia}

"The belief that the soul continues its existence after the dissolution of the body is...nowhere expressly taught in Holy Scripture...The belief in the immortality of the soul came to the Jews from contact with Greek thought and chiefly through the philosophy of Plato its principle exponent, who was led to it through Orphic and Eleusinian mysteries in which Babylonian and Egyptian views were strangely blended" {The Jewish Encyclopedia, article, "Immortality of the Soul"}.

"God's people are to be holy and separate from these pagan beliefs and customs"

Exodus 19:5-6 "Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

1 Peter 2:9-10 "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy."

Leviticus 11:45 "For I am the Lord who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God. You shall therefore be holy, for I am holy."

Leviticus 19:2 “Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy."

1 Peter 1:15-16 "Just as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

Let me show you something else in Romans that is very eye opening. According to Romans, we, as Gentiles, are suppose to provoke Israel to jealousy.

Romans 10:19 But I say, did Israel not know? First Moses says: “I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation, I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.”

Romans 11:11 I say then, have they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! But through their fall, to provoke them to jealousy, salvation has come to the Gentiles.

We will not provoke Israel to jealousy by celebrating pagan holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Good Friday and Sunday as the Lord's day. There is only one thing that will provoke Israel to jealousy and that is for a Gentile to celebrate God's Sabbath and God's Feast Days. We find an example of this in Acts when the religious Jews saw the mix multitude of non-Jews gathering on the Sabbath.

Acts 13:44-45 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul.

"God wants a big family who love and believe in Him and follow His Law"

Exodus 12:49 "One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you.”

Numbers 15:16 "One law and one custom shall be for you and for the stranger who dwells with you.’”

"When a Jew or Gentile sins they break the same Law, God's Law"

Romans 3:9 "Well, then, are we Jews better than others? No, not at all, for we have already shown that all men alike are sinners, whether Jews or Gentiles."

The same Gospel that saves the Jew from sin is the same Gospel that saves the Gentile from sin.

Romans 1:16 "I have complete confidence in the gospel; it is God's power to save all who believe, first the Jews and also the Gentiles."

"God will empower us in the new covenant to keep His Laws, not do away with them"

Ezekiel 36:24-28 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idolsI will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of fleshI will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. Then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; you shall be My people, and I will be your God.

"In Christ we are all one with one Law, one God and one Israel, the Israel of God"

Ephesians 2:11-13 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Romans 2:28-29 For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision. No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.

Galatians 6:15-16 "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God."

Through Israel's Messiah you can become the Israel of God!
